Opinions: Between 750 and 1250 words,

Analyses: Between 3000 and 5000 words,

Book Reviews: Between 400 and 800 words,

How Should I Write?

Opinion pieces should be written in a way that appeals to the public, shaped around a specific question, or focused on a specific subject. Literary writings and essays expressing general personal opinions are not accepted.

The analyses should be written in a way that appeals to people who have a certain level of knowledge and/or academic expertise in related fields. They should academically examine a specific research question and/or topic in-depth, interpret them, and make original contributions.

Both types of articles should be written in clear and simple language, avoiding long sentences and intensive disciplinary jargon. It should be kept in mind that the works published at Panorama Portal will have to appeal to people who are not experts and/or students of the subject matter. Thus, terminology that is not in the general public’s knowledge should be simply defined at the first mention, or the reader should be directed to a source where the definition can be found.

Explanatory or reference footnotes should be avoided in opinion pieces. If it is vital to give a reference, a small number of APA-style references within the text are acceptable. In this case, a bibliography should be added at the end of the text.

Explanatory footnotes can be used in analyses. Reference footnotes should not be used, and references should be given in APA style within the text; a bibliography should be added at the end of the text, and an abstract of a maximum of 400 words should be included at the beginning.

References to newspapers and online reports should be hyperlinked within the text. Such sources should not be included in the bibliography. Efforts should be made to provide links to articles previously published on the subject in the Panorama Portal or the journal of International Relations.

In the bibliography, academic sources (books, articles, etc.) that cannot be hyperlinked within the text should be listed in APA style, and hyperlinks should be provided for sources available online.

Which Format Should I Use?

Manuscripts to be sent to Panorama Portal should be prepared in Times New Roman, 12 font, 1.5 spacing, and should only be submitted electronically in .doc or .docx format. PDF submissions are not accepted.

For all manuscripts to be submitted, the file should include the title, author’s name, surname(s), the main text, a bibliography (if any), short curriculum vitae (around 100 words), and a photograph of the author(s).

Please mark the section that best reflects the study’s content. If the work is published, this part will be used in promotions, so it should be around 100 characters. Alternatively, you can add a short introductory text of the same length at the end of the study.

Attachments such as images, tables, figures, etc. that are intended to be published within the articles should be added to the end of the text in high-resolution JPEG or PNG format.

Evaluation Process

Manuscripts sent to the Panorama Portal are evaluated by the Editorial Board and independent referees if necessary for their eligibility for publication.

Articles previously published are not accepted for re-publication on Panorama Portal. Expanded versions of papers previously published could be submitted to the Panorama Portal. The Editorial Board will determine whether their variance from the previously published material merits publication.

Articles previously published in another language may be translated into Turkish and published on Panorama Portal. The original versions of translated papers must be indicated with an explanatory note.

It is possible to publish a paper on another medium simultaneously with the Panorama Portal with the prior approval of the editors. The information that the paper is simultaneously published on the Panorama Portal should be stated at the beginning of the paper in the other medium.

If it is determined that a paper has been published simultaneously or previously in another medium without prior approval of the Panorama Portal, it will be removed from the Portal. The responsibility for not publishing the paper elsewhere before the Panorama Portal lies with the author(s).

Manuscripts that are decided to be published are forwarded to the author(s) for approval following editing. The author(s) should review the corrections made to the text, make the changes and additions requested by the editors, and submit the final version of the manuscript for publication.

On the final version of the manuscript, the author(s) should add a high-resolution image that represents the content of the paper and should mark 3-4 sentences in the text for highlighting in the published form.

The Editorial Board is authorized to make minor corrections that do not change the meaning of the final version of the texts and to edit titles and subtitles.
